While I've never seen the show that inspired this fanart, it honestly works just as well as a stand-alone piece. The light and shadows are fantastic, and I think you captured this quiet moment between two characters perfectly.

Tysm ! Credits to marshall adams' cinematography. Theres lots of rly nice shots in this show
I love the blending of/contrast between organic and mechanic in this illustration. Definitely wouldn't mind riding in this thing. Great work!
Well I like him too. :D The only time I ever played with a cleric in DnD, he got unceremoniously killed off by an attack of opportunity provoked by his own stupidity and the GM had to grasp for straws to bring him back. Interesting seeing a half-orc cleric, I've never played a campaign that had one.
Great job, love seeing him rendered in this art style. And I loved him in the anime, he sure was a bastard but in the end he genuinely cared for Mob when it counted.
He looks as dopey and defenseless as I'd expect an actual king in a game of chess to feel. Great work!
Five stars somehow just doesn't feel enough for this exceptional piece. You said it took months and it shows, the details are out of this world. Fantastic, one of the best works I've seen here so far.
The lighting! Good god, the lighting. Literally can't find the words to describe how good it is. Gorgeous piece, well done.
I don't know if there is a middleground between "comforting" and "eerie", but if there is you found it. The level of attention to detail here is incredible, amazing work.
This is great. I think you struck a perfect balance between cartoony simplicity and stark realism.
Brilliant, made me laugh. Great job!
Hello!
I love nature, science, Pokémon, gay stuff (both SFW and NSFW) and making comics - not necessarily in that order. My NG journey is about sharing all kinds of works and accepting that they're all equally valid ways of expressing myself through art.
