I deeply admire artists who have the ability to really make a space feel lived-in and homey in art (something that eludes me unfortunately - all the living spaces I draw feel too clinical and stiff). This is a perfect example of how it's done - all the messy details really sell the impression that somebody is living here and give the space personality. Excellent work.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I based this room off of my freshman college dorm, it was this shitty 1800s New England apartment and there were cracks in the walls and really old moulding that got painted over but I made it my home and the design choices I made reflected my mindset going into art school for the first time, and I wanted to capture that in this! I really like drawing rooms as a reflection of people's headspaces and personalities, it almost makes me forget how hard drawing perspective is LOL.

You know I just have to give props to fan art of one of my favorite artists. That said, you did an amazing job here, I especially like the hair.

spacepatrolmimi responds:

awwwe thank you!! i’m not used to drawing crazy-ish hair, but i really love this photograph of her, so i decided to try it out <3

"Amphibious" is just a polite way of saying "he'll eat you whether you're on land or in water".

Excellent work!

Seath-Lorkencrain responds:

Thanks.

Fantastic work. The texture in the bottom-right is very interesting. If you don't mind me asking, how did you achieve it? Did you just layer the acrylics on thick and mess around with them, or did you glue something (like wads of crumpled paper) to the canvas and paint over them? Whatever the technique, it looks great, like waves crashing against a rocky ledge.

darkroots77 responds:

Thank you! The texture is actually a combination of gel media and a paper mache product.

For lack of a better word, I love just how crusty this design looks. And the overbite is oddly cute in a way. Great job!

BoMToons responds:

I might have to dub my art style: "deep-fried crusties" :-P

This was very nice. Even without much dialogue you managed to make it heartwarming. Visually, some of the scenes are quite beautiful (the sun breaking though the clouds for example), and the Reaper's design works very well. Good job and good luck in the contest!

DozyMike responds:

Thank you!!

"Beautiful" is something I've always hoped I could make my art be described as, so I appreciate that very much ^_^

It's an absolute joy to look at as well! Fantastic work, everything looks so vibrant and delicious.

ozuzo responds:

Glad to hear it, thanks a lot!

This is probably (hopefully?) the weirdest thing I will see today. Awesome and bizarre at the same time, great job!

vinnx4 responds:

hell yea thank you vlsrb u_u

Oh this is just magnificent. So much love and effort clearly went into each minute detail. Absolutely gorgeous, well done!

drachenmagier responds:

Thank you very much! <3

This would definitely make my "Art that could totally be a metal album cover" playlist if I had one (and I mean that as a compliment). Both figures look awesome, and I love their contrasting attitudes.

Orvaen responds:

Thank you very much, that's awesome to hear!

Hello!
I love nature, science, Pokémon, gay stuff (both SFW and NSFW) and making comics - not necessarily in that order. My NG journey is about sharing all kinds of works and accepting that they're all equally valid ways of expressing myself through art.
